On A Mission!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yes, I'm on a mission......a healthy eating and exercising plan. I've been watching what I eat for some time now since I had a scare with my blood sugar going up, so to avoid the dreaded "diabetes", I got serious about cutting the sugar way down and watching what I eat and cook. I began last August so it's almost a year now with just 10 pounds lost and they were lost in the first 2 months! Since then my weight has been STUCK in neutral.....not going up, but more importantly to me, not going down either. The 5 pounds I put on the ticker I've finally dropped just this week, which is a good indication that maybe consistent weight loss is in my future?

On that note, I've decided to take my Mom's advice (because she's always right anyhow, and that's the truth) and I've started walking on my treadmill every day for at least a mile or more. This should jar some of this flab loose one way or the other, shouldn't it? Say yes, please!!! :) Once autumn rolls around, I can get outside and walk but the temperature here is just too hot and humid for outdoor walking. I do feel better and have more energy throughout the day and this, in just 2 weeks.

I hope that those of you who can commiserate will let me know of any tips you might have to improve either the exercising or the food part of this "now" way of life for me. I would love to hear from any and all with advice or just plain comments. Ahh, come on now, I'm counting on you! :))

On that note, I'll leave you with one of my favorite, most appropriate quotes, although I don't know who said it originally,

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step".

For me watching the food helps but doesn't do much for actual loss, I don't see a loss until I get some exercise going. Your walking will definitely help. I also make sure I drink a lot of water, at least 64 ounces a day, but typically more like 108, it's really very beneficial, plus makes you get up and move to the bathroom a lot. Hey, every step helps!

Laura, I'm with you on the walking on the treadmill. I also like to do the *Walk Away the Pounds* DVD's by Leslie Sansone.

I also highly recommend joining Weight Watchers. I has been life changing for me.

I'll be praying for you about your health efforts...I'm right there with you!

Laura,

here's a tip told to me by someone who lost a LOT of weight: don't eat anything after 6pm at night. She said it worked like a charm for her. She cut back on quantity during the day and watched calories but the biggest change was the 'no nighttime eating' rule and it did the trick.

Good luck Laura on your exercise and weight loss. I can only say that I have been stuck for months, and I have 30 lbs to lose myself. My doctor has suggested I write down everything I eat, and then if necessary consult a nutritionist. I think there are enough web sites to figure out calories. She suggested 1500 calories for me, I'm 58, and hypothyroid, so hopefully that will work. I do exercise daily. I think your mom is right to encourage that! Even 20 minutes a day will help you.

Love the petunias .... mine are fading in this heat.

I know you can do it. I have an idea, while walking on the treadmill pretend its your ex-husbands face you are walking on, that should give you the extra momentum you need to make it through.
I think its great that you have this blog, that you are finally doing something for YOU. I am behind you 110%.
For all of you who read this, my mother, Laura, is the most resilient person I have ever met, nothing, and I mean nothing, will keep her from reaching her goal. And also, I might add, she is an amazing mother gave up many things to raise 5 children BY HERSELF.

I love you MOM. Good Luck.
Your champion and loving son,
MATT
