I'm All Set!

Well, it's official......the baby ripple blanket is complete and in plenty of time for the new little bundle's arrival.  I am very happy with it and I'm especially thrilled with the way the sides turned out as well.  I decided on a row of single crochet along each side and then a row of reverse single crochet (also known as crab stitch) which gave the finished blanket a nice substantial feel when gripping it, and yet, went with the entire look of the pattern itself.   It measures approximately 32" wide by 36" long so it's a nice size for the wee one to be wrapped in and snuggled in by his or her, Mimi (that's me, naturally). :)

I've also begun a Baby Surprise Jacket (sweater, actually) from The Opinionated Knitter (EZ) which is not only a big surprise when completed but a work of art also.  Elizabeth Zimmermann was a true knitting wizard in every sense of the word and her creations will always be as fresh and vital as they were when she 'unvented' them.  The knitting world misses her still but at least we are gifted with her daughter, the wonderful Meg Swansen who is multi-talented and a joy to speak with, if you're lucky enough to reach her on the phone when calling to order from Schoolhouse Press.

I love crocheted ripple blankets! The border was a nice touch to tidy up the edges. I think the baby will love it. I dragged around the baby blanket my Farmor gave me until it was just one giant hole. I hope this blanket gets that much love.
